Top of the news - Tom's Letter
Letter From Tom

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. The table is loaded down with a beautifully burnished bird plus a multitude of favorite side dishes. Family and friends gather around, and this year our daughter Loretta comes home from her first semester of college at Colgate U!  This is the feast Jackie and I plan to prepare, and we’re pleased to share all the recipes with you at the end of this letter.

For an all out genuine Tom Douglas Thanksgiving feast, stop by the Dahlia Bakery for a jar of Rub with Love Turkey Rub and pick up a crusty loaf of rustic bread for your stuffing recipe at the same time.  If you’d like our pastry bakers to whip up some luscious pies and other desserts for you, be sure to order aheadI suggest picking a good white, red, and bubble to serve throughout your feast, but not necessarily your best from the cellar.  It’s hard to match wines with so many flavors on one plate, and often there are more people than one bottle can adequately pour through.  Large format bottles are perfect for this group, but save your super-fancy wines for when they can be more appreciated by all.

Finish the feast with a steaming cup of Starbuck's Thanksgiving Blend, a special blend that I worked with Starbucks to develop, using beans from Sumatra and Guatemala. This coffee not only tastes great with pumpkin pie, it’s also delicious with the turkey, matching herbal notes with an herbiness in the coffee and cutting the fattiness in the gravy with just the right amount of acid.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cheers,

Tom

TOM DOUGLAS and STARBUCKS THANKSGIVING BLEND
Available November 4th through Thanksgiving at Starbucks Nationwide!

Tom Douglas recently collaborated with Starbucks' coffee roasting experts to come up with this special blend, combining the lush, herbal accents of full-bodied Sumatran beans and the subtle spice and cocoa notes of the Guatemalan varietal.  This is the perfect cup of coffee to drink not only with your Thanksgiving feast, but all through the holiday season!

Starbucks Thanksgiving Blend will be available as a limited release in all Starbucks stores nationwide starting November 4th and running until Thanksgiving.  Want to try a cup?  You can taste this special blend in all the Tom Douglas restaurants throughout November.

RUB WITH LOVE TURKEY RUB
Available now online and at the Dahlia Bakery

It's here for the Holidays – Tom's Rub with Love Turkey Rub with delicious notes of coriander, citrus and thyme.  We've produced just a small quantity of this poultry-perfect combination so get it while it lasts.

If you're anxious to try this tasty blend before you give it a go at home, Chef Sean Hartley will be serving up a roast turkey dinner at Palace Kitchen every night for the month of November.   Sean will be rubbing his turkeys with Love before sending them for a spin on Palace's applewood burning rotisserie until golden brown.

Your turkey dinner comes to the table accompanied by an individual press pot of Starbucks Thanksgiving Blend Coffee. Tom developed this special blend to taste great with your Thanksgiving turkey. The herbal notes in the coffee pick up the herbiness of the meal, with just enough acid that tastes great with a rich gravy. Try it and see for yourself!

Palace Kitchen Roast Turkey Dinner is $25 and starts November 1.
