Salmon Chanted Evenings, Why we do them, and how you can join (first one’s June 29th!)

Salmon Chanted EveningsThe Pike Place Market is important to me as a resident of Seattle, a business owner, and a frequent visitor of the market. Victor Steinbrueck Park provides an important and centralized space in the neighborhood for all varieties of people to come together. A healthy park is vital to the upkeep of a vibrant community.
When Richard Haag Associates and Victor Steinbrueck first built the park in 1978, the idea was to provide a place near the market where shoppers could rest, residents could lounge, and people who couldn’t always afford the market could sit for free.

Throughout the years, Victor Steinbrueck Park has become an important piece of the Pike Place Market experience, and we’d like to keep it that way. Salmon Chanted Evenings are intended to activate the space in a way that is quiet for the nearby residents, community-based, delicious, and fun. These nights celebrate what is great about our town, while raising money for this gorgeous park.

Since the dinners started three years ago, the money that’s been raised has gone to fund the park’s new “concierges,” M. Kay Skinner and Lemont Thornton. They tip the balance to provide a positive presence in the park so that everyone feels welcome again.

Tom GrillingTickets are $20 and include a bountiful plate of Rub with Love Salmon, green beans, hazelnut rice, watermelon and feta salad, and Washington blueberry crisp for dessert! Because everything from the food down to the forks and napkins are donated by us and other concerned businesses, we are able to give 100% of the proceeds to the Seattle Parks Department.

We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word and promoting the two dinners we are hosting for this summer in the park : June 29th and August 17th, from 5-7 pm.

Tickets can be bought at here or in-person at Etta’s and Seatown.

If you have any questions, contact Eva, or call at 206-448-2001.

Come dine with us in the setting sun of Elliott Bay as we celebrate community, fish, and fun!

Sincerely,
Tom
