When I was standing at my seat, arms shooting in the air and mouth agape at the mother of all comebacks last week at the Clink, it dawned on me that my new nickname “feast mode” was going to fit like a glove.

What else can you do after such an unlikely event other than pop some corks, start up the charcoal grill, invite some friends and cherish your good fortune.

King crab legs and leg of lamb draped one end of the table while a big bowl of bibb lettuce, avocado and grapefruit salad anchored the other end. Loaves of crusty garlic bread and mounds of golden rosemary fried potatoes held down the center.

This was a “thank your lucky stars feast” fit for the enormity of the feet. Sports are a bit surreal in their perceived importance but after being there and walking through town both to and from the stadium it is clear that sports can unify a city on a very high level.
