Don't know how many of you saw the story in the Seattle Times last week about the 88 foot tall Engelmann spruce cut from the Colville National Forest, but I did and took special notice. That is the very tree that, come the first week of December, I'll be be cooking nearby along with the entire proud Washington delegation at our Nation’s Capitol. Proudly referred to as "the people's tree" by Jen Knutson, the US Forest Service's Capital Christmas Tree Coordinator, the rotund evergreen will be joined by 80 other trees from Washington state and will be adorned with ornaments made by school kids from here as well. We are expecting 400 people to join us while we flip the switch and "spruce" up the Capital lawn.
No matter your politics, this Washington State tree symbolizes togetherness and offers a chance to bring smiles and cheer to all who pass by.Happy holidays to you and yours!!

We know you have plans to meet up with friends and family over the holidays. If you are dining out, let us help you find just the right spot. Some of our restaurants have private rooms so you can tuck away and focus on your guests. Private dining enables you to pick a menu ahead of time and have dedicated staff to insure your comfort. Dahlia Lounge, Cuoco and Palace Kitchen all have beautiful private spaces. Another option is to reserve a big table in the restaurant, so you can be part of the action. We like to recommend the Kitchen Table at Serious Pie Virginia, pulling together a 20 top in the Tack Room at Bravehorse or setting up in the cozy northend of TanakaSan. To hear about more options call our office and ask for our private dining coordinator, Britta Hendren. She can send you the details on room sizes, make suggestions, check availabilities and provide you with menu ideas.
